I love the gnarled wood of driftwood.  It makes one wonder how old it is, where it originated and how it ended up where it is and how much longer it will be there on the beach.

Each is unique and individual and has its own story.  This painting was inspired by my time in the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland.  The area is famous for its fine white sand and gorgeous blues and aqua of the ocean.
