SYDNEY TO HOBART FLEET
The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is an icon in Australia. The anticipation and excitement builds in the preceding months to culminate in a hotly contested start to the race on Boxing Day. The start of the race attracts huge media attention both in Australia and overseas and showcases the gorgeous Sydney Harbour.
I hope that this painting portrays the tough competition that sailors face during not only the start of the race but all the way to Hobart. The leaders of the race are featured in the foreground while the Sydney skyline is in the background.
The leaders are the super maxis measuring over 100 feet in length. It takes a skilled team of skipper and crew to make these yachts to perform to their maximum.
